An UpKeep alternative, if your plant already has sensors
What is a good alternative to UpKeep for a plant with PLCs and SCADA?

You have already bought the sensors. Your PLCs and SCADA measure temperature, current, vibration and flow every few seconds, and UpKeep cannot read any of it.

You have already bought the sensors
UpKeep’s answer to industrial data is UpKeep Edge: their own battery-powered wireless sensors and a gateway, sold as hardware plus a monthly per-device subscription. Three things to weigh:
- If your equipment is not instrumented yet, we instrument it on request, and the readings land in the process record rather than in a per-device subscription. If it is instrumented, you would be paying to measure what your controllers already measure, and the maintenance system still would not see the process data you own. DataPilot reads what is already there, at $10 a seat, and we build the connector where a system is not supported yet.
- Two things worth pricing before you choose. API access sits on the Enterprise plan, and offline mobile is not in either published plan, which matters because offline is what a technician inside a steel building actually needs.
- Their entry plan is cheaper, and that is where it ends. It cannot read a controller, so a maintenance system that only sees its own sensors is the ceiling you would be buying into. Anything on their list that is not on ours yet, we build on request.
