In this recorded session from the GrowON Lunch & Learn, our CEO Kenneth Tran explains how Koidra’s technology helps greenhouses make more informed, consistent decisions – using data, plant science, and automation.

The Challenge: Increasing Complexity in Greenhouse Operations

Managing a greenhouse today involves more than just adjusting temperatures or lights. Growers must constantly monitor climate, CO₂, irrigation, lighting, and plant health – while responding to changing weather, crop needs, and resource costs.

Labor shortages and fragmented systems make it even harder to manage effectively and consistently.

Koidra’s Approach: Data-Driven, Goal-Oriented Control

Koidra provides a software solution that works alongside your existing climate controller (such as Priva or Hoogendoorn). It helps automate key decisions based on a combination of real-time data and scientific understanding of how crops respond to environmental changes.

1. Integrating data from all sources

Our system gathers data from climate computers, sensors, yield tracking tools, and other systems—all in one place.

2. Combining crop science with machine learning

Koidra uses a method called physics-informed machine learning. It starts with plant science (like energy balance and crop modeling) and improves it using real-world data from your greenhouse. This allows the system to understand and anticipate how plants respond to different climate settings.

3. Simulating outcomes with a digital twin

Koidra’s digital twin is a live simulation of the greenhouse, built from both historical and real-time data. It helps forecast how changes in climate settings will impact plant growth, photosynthesis, and energy use – not just immediately, but over time. This supports smarter planning and more consistent results.

4. Automating decisions based on your goals

Growers define their own targets, such as improving climate stability, increasing yield or reducing energy cost. Koidra’s system then makes automatic adjustments to climate settings to stay aligned with those goals, while keeping growers informed and in control.
